Coping with negative emotions can be a challenging part of adolescence. The adolescent anxiety and depression program is a new treatment being offered at the Emotional Health Clinic. In this program, you will learn creative ways to manage emotions and live life on your terms. The program aims to help you understand what you are going through and the vicious cycles that can trap you. This cognitive behavioural program incorporates the latest research and techniques in working with motivation, acceptance and negative emotions.
At the end of this program you will:
- Understand your negative emotions
- Have a clear idea of your values and goals
- Recognise and work with blocks to motivation
- Build confidence and beat self-defeating behaviours
- Recognise unhelpful thinking styles
- Work through life problems
- Strengthen coping skills and resilience
This program is ideal for teenagers experiencing high levels of stress, depression or anxiety. Parents will be invited to attend select sessions with the focus of therapy being primarily on the adolescent.
